Sorry it is has been a while since I've updated. I've been super busy with a ton of things.

Back in August we had to put a new roof over the bathroom. The roof over the bathroom was the old cedar shake type. It was about thirty years old, and was falling apart.


As you can see from the pictures, how bad the roof was. The old stuff was pretty easy to take off, since most of it was loose. The wood underneath the shingles, wasn't in to bad of shape. Though there were some pretty big spaces between the wood. I'm surprised that it didn't start to leak.

We had to put some expanding foam to fill in the holes, to help with the insulation. After those were filled up, which took a couple of hours to do. The metal roofing had to be cut to size in order to be fitted to the roof properly. The cutting along took a couple of hours. Once that was over with, the rest went pretty quickly. I would say that it took about an hour and a half to get all of the metal roofing on. It looks really good and it will last for a long time.

Over the weekend my husband and I fixed up our son's room. I did all of the painting and he installed the new carpet. The room looks so much better than it did before. I had a lot of fun doing it and had forgotten how much fun painting is.

	This was the old red carpet that was in his room. It was really nasty, you would shampoo it and it still looked like it was dirty. We are guess that this carpet was put in the house back in the 1970's.
	After we pulled up the carpet, this old wood floor was exposed. It was really dusty and had planks going in all directions. Just glad that we cleaned it and put down the new carpet.
	This is the new carpet that was put in. It is the same color as the one that was put in the living room. It is a very neutral color and goes with just about anything, plus it is so soft. The cat was laying on it before we had a chance to move all of the furniture back into the room.
	When we bought the place there was this hole that was in the wall. The only thing that we can figure out is the previous owner was going to pull wire through there or something.
	My husband cut out a piece of drywall the same size and shape of the hole. He inserted a screw into the piece to act as a handle. Then he applied joint compound around the edges of the piece. Then he inserted it into the hole and had it slightly recessed about a sixteenth of an inch. Then he took a putty knife and applied more joint compound around the edges, smoothing as he went along. It had to dry for a couple of hours before sanding it flat. After it was dried, the screw was removed and a putty knife wider than the patch area was used to apply joint compound. After that was dry it was sanded once more.
	The walls where white in the room. The paint was old and in some spots peeling. So I had to scrape all of the loose off before I could put on a layer of primer. The walls were also very dirty and in some spots had a yellow color to it.
	After a few weeks of debating how I wanted the walls to look in his room, I decided that I wanted something that he could grow with. Plus that means I wouldn't have to redo his room until he was older. The idea hit me one evening, that I should try splatter painting. I painted the walls and ceiling white. After that was dry, I came in with the red paint. I put a little bit of paint on the brush and just flicked my wrist and arm. I did the same thing to the ceiling. When I was done with the red, I did the same thing with the blue. It was a lot of fun, and when I was done I had a ton of paint on me and the old red carpet had spots on it.

	I have no idea how old this door is. I know it is pretty old as it uses as skeleton key to lock it. It was in pretty rough shape.
	After a coat of primer and white paint. I decided to paint the door red. I had to use two coats of the red paint and if you look closely you can still see some scratches and stuff in the door, though it does look a lot better now.
	The window is new, though the frame around the window is old. I'm guessing that it is the original frame from when this room was added on. There were tons of little scratches and dents in the wood.
	It took a coat of primer, and white paint to make the window look presentable. I decided to paint it blue to add some contrast to the room since the door was red. It took two coats of the blue paint to make it look nice.
	Here is the after pic of the window with the new carpet. It looks so much nicer and brighter.
Here are some pictures after we moved the furniture and stuff back into our sons room. I think that it turned out great.

This is the next project, though it will be done in the spring, when school is out for the both of us. Behind that wall is an old adobe brick fireplace. We are planning on knocking out where the firebox is supposed to be to see what kind of condition it is in. The opening of the fireplace was bricked over sometime in the 20's or 30's, when the coal furnace was put in. The coal furnace was later taken out and replaced with a gas one. My husband suspect that instead of properly putting in the furnace, they put a hole down the middle of the floor of the firebox on the fireplace to hook the pipe up to the furnace. If so then it will take some time to fix it up. We are planning on using sheet rock for the upper part of the fireplace, since all the brick has stucco on it and with it being over a hundred years old we don't know what kind of condition the brick is going to be in. The hole at the top is where someone used a wood burning stove, and put the pipe in there. There is a small hole on the bottom where someone drilled, we are thinking they were trying to see if the firebox was bricked in or not. In a couple of weeks my husband is going to clean the chimney and we are going to put a camera down it to see if we can see the condition of the firebox. He doesn't want to put any holes in the wall, since we don't have the time to fix it at the moment. So hopefully the camera will be able to tell us what is there, as we are both very curious.

Last weekend my husband put in carpet in our living room. We had old wooden floors that were probably the original ones. There were pieces of the wood coming up, and the tongue and grooves were worn out. The floor was in pretty bad shape, so we decided to put carpet in. It was a project that took all day, but it looks so much better now.

This is the carpet that we put down. It is nice and soft. Sure makes the room look a lot brighter and bigger.














This is at the front door. We put down some linoleum, so we wouldn't drag mud onto our new carpet. As you can see the floor has some dirt on it because of the time of year it is. We have about six inches of snow left on the ground, and in some spots it has melted and is very muddy.

This is where I will be posting things that I'm working on or have done. Last year my husband and I bought a home. The home is over a hundred years old, and we found out that it used to be a weigh station. We have decided to remodel the house, as we get money. This is going to be fun because I have so many ideas.
